Project "Rue des enfants"

With the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lyon and the City of Lyon, I participated in the project "Rue des enfants" to create a participatory and ephemeral work, realized with students from the CE1 and CE2 classes of Jean Gerson School. The installation includes materials and gestures that reference biological and philosophical concepts. Among the explored themes are life, energy, creation, connections, weaving, biology, DNA, multi-universes, and animism. The installation aims to highlight, through the gesture, the action of the participant, and the final result, the bond that unites us all as beings who compose the reality we are part of.

We created hand-woven objects called "Ojos de Dios" in Mexico, with the ideology of creating objects that perceive and protect our path or the installation space. According to the ancestral belief of this Mexican craft, it creates protection towards the 5 cardinal points (north, south, east, west, and center). For me, the act of artistic creation gives energy to the act itself and to the final object, creating an energetic field. We also represented DNA with interlaced ribbons of colors and created floor paintings with textures and forms of elements that represent life or energy for us, and by incorporating elements that evoke animism.

The delicacy and lightness of the materials, as well as the variation of colors, can refer to childhood but also to the plural diversity of creation.
