Vasija de barro
DNSEP (Master) exhibition
Iron bar structure, chicken wire, fabric, transparent bubble wrap, spotlight, red gel, woven sculpture inside
260 x 190 x 130 cm
"Vasija de barro" is a sculpture originally inspired by an ancient Ecuadorian tradition, followed by inquiries into the observation and image of a surveillance camera.
The Incas buried their dead in clay pots in a fetal position, representing a return to the womb of nature.
With "Vasija de barro," the visitor can rest inside, on a base of bubble wrap. The fusion of a space that initially appears narrow but once entered is perceived as quite large, along with the interaction of red light and tactile materials inside, creates an installation where the viewer has the opportunity to experience a sensory and somatic experience.
